30th Birthday Dinner

“Manny came to cook us a meal but became part of the party. I stayed at the Boathouse in Hawkesbury, Manny knew the house well, which was reassuring in that I could leave him to his own devices, reduces the stress for me. Manny arrived in the afternoon and began preparing our meal, he knew his way around the kitchen which meant we could get on with relaxing and enjoying ourselves. A couple of friends were unable to attend and we threw in this last minute change at him but Manny came up with an idea of how we could share out the extra food or save some bits for lunches.

Once it came to the meal, the food was incredible and beautifully presented. Sashimi followed by succulent and tender Moroccan lamb with Tiramusu for dessert. Manny catered for all of our differing needs and tastes.

After the main course, we took a break, relaxed and played music which Manny seemed to enjoy. I popped away from the table after the main course and rather than just dish out the next course regardless, Manny patiently waited until I (the birthday girl) was back seated at the table. A nice touch and reminder that this is a personal experience and there is not another group of people waiting for the table. We could take our time and enjoy our evening – Sydney restaurants could learn a thing or two from this.

All the guests that spoke with Manny came away saying how lovely he was and a great addition to the party.

Birthday Lunch, Bondi

“Secret Dining organised a lunch for 40 people at my home. They suggesting a wonderful menu and organised all the food, furniture, crockery and cutlery. The team arrived in the morning, set up, served and cleaned up afterwards while I enjoyed the company of my guests.

Christmas Eve Lunch

“Everything went beautifully on Christmas Eve and everyone was very impressed with the  all the dishes at lunch. It was exactly what we wanted as everyone was able to relax. The trifle became the yard stick for Christmas at other places and yours won hands down. I can’t thank you enough.

50th Birthday Party

“My wife and I booked Manny Affarian’s “Secret Dining” to cater my recent 50th birthday, which I had wanted to be a special night at our home with my family and about a dozen of our very close friends.

To summarise, I have had very few dining experience before this (if any!) where, at the end of the meal, the guests rose as one to give the chef a standng ovation. This was certainly one of the best meals of my life.  Every mouthfull was just sensational.

But it was not just the magnificence of the food that made my party so enjoyable…From his wide selection of interesting dishes (choosing was hard; I could have selected any of them)  to the little unexpected touches, like the menu cards he created for the place settings –  the entire experience was a joy.

As he prepared the feast in our kitchen, Manny somehow combines the utmost professionalism with a cheery warmth that made the evening much more enjoyable.  Above all, I will always remember the overwhelming sense of calm he brought to the evening for us as hosts.  Nothing seemed to phase him; he takes everything in his stride.

There is only one reason I will hesitate to recommend Secret Dining to others – I know he’s just going to get so popular that I’ll never be able to get him back for seconds!” (Matt, Arcadia, July 2010)
